Mike Baines
Managing Partner
Mike is the founding partner of Baines & Co., having established the firm in 1989.
Mike worked and trained for a Big 4 company in Exeter assisting in their small business division with turnovers of £50 k to 5 Million.
He deals primarily with all aspects of accountancy and taxation with the firm and particularly enjoys a niche of advising to the leisure sector of public housesand restaurants.
Outside of running the firm, Mike enjoys golf and rugby and since 2011 has acted as treasurer for the Devon branch of the charity Wooden Spoon - which offers help to disadvantaged children and young people in the UK.
Nicky Jones
Office Secretary
Nicky is the longest serving member of Baines & Co. and has been the office secretary for over 20 years. She works with all members of the team to provide an efficient service for all our clients.
Outside the office she enjoys spending time with family and friends and participating in exercise classes at the local sports centre. Watch out for her swift kick in Body Combat!
Meyrick Shaw
Office Manager
Meyrick joined the firm in 2005 on moving down from Coventry, bringing over 20 years of experience in accountancy and taxation. He became office manager and deals with all aspects of accountancy, taxation and compliance work within the firm. Primarily he is responsible for all limited companies and their owner managers within the client base.
Meyrick has been married to Geraldine since 1988 and they have two grown up boys.
In his spare time, he likes gardening and keeps various pets. He is also a keen chess player, representing the local Exmouth club and the Devon County team. He regularly competes in competitions in England and also internationally.
Julia Rodgers
Accounting Technician
Julia started at the firm in 2001 as Office Junior, progressing onto the preparation of Accounts and payroll before qualifying with the Association of Accounting Technicians in 2006.
Julia deals with Sole Trader/Partnership Accounts and Tax Returns, VAT and Bookkeeping.
Outside of the office Julia likes spending time with family and friends and is actively involved in a local Netball club and enjoys playing in the Exeter league.
Trevor Dunn
Accounting Technician
Trevor joined the practice in 2008 after achieving his A-Levels. He completed his AAT Qualification in 3 years and is now involved in completing Tax Returns, VAT Returns and full sets of Accounts in the office, as well as being heavily involved in adjustments made to accommodate recent changes in Payroll Legislation.
In his spare time, he plays Football with his friends as well as enjoying the mind games of Poker. He also likes listening to music as much as possible and attends Glastonbury Festival every year, searching the far corners for his musical passion, 1950s Rock N Roll.
Joshua Hawley
Accounting Technician
Joshua Hawley is the newest member of the Baines & Co team joining the company in November 2015. His previous experience included working for limited companies providing administration and bookkeeping services. Josh has recently completed his AAT qualification and has now gained the signatory letters MAAT.
Josh is a keen sportsman having represented teams in rugby, football, hockey and cricket. On the weekend he enjoys spending time at the Exeter Chiefs ground supporting the local premiership rugby team.
Debbie Causley
Bookkeeper
Debbie started with the firm in 1999 as a Receptionist and over the years is now working as our experienced Bookkeeper providing a professional and confidential service to our clients.
Debbie in her spare time enjoys spending time with family and friends as well as going running and playing badminton.
Ellie Clarke
Trainee AAT
Ellie started with the firm in the summer of 2017 and mainly assists Trevor with the rapidly expanding Payroll and Bookeeping side of the company.
She is studying at Exeter College and progressing well towards her qualification. She also does make a lovely cup of coffee.
